Newcastle United are reportedly weighing up a January move for Marseille ace Michy Batshuayi.

The Premier League outfit, who have slumped to second bottom after picking up just three points from their opening seven games, are looking to add firepower to their attacking ranks during the New Year to ensure they preserve their English top-flight status come the end of the season.

The 21-year-old, who made his international debut for Belgium back in March, has already scored five goals in eight appearances for the Ligue 1 side so far this season.

Marseille only bought the talented forward for around £4.5m from Standard Liege last summer, although his fine spell of form in front of goal this term is set to at least double his transfer value heading into the New Year.

Elsewhere; Magpies boss Steve McClaren is considering loaning out fellow forward and summer signing Ivan Toney from St James’ Park.
