Newcastle United have offered £7m for France international forward Bafetimbi Gomis, according to The Sun.

The Premier League side, who currently lie one adrift of safety in 18th spot, want to sign the Swansea City striker in a bid to stave off relegation this campaign.

The 30-year-old, who has 12 international caps for his country, has scored six goals in 23 appearances in all competitions for the fellow struggling Swans this season.

Gomis, whose release clause at the Liberty Stadium is a reported £7m, is also attracting interest from Middle East outfits Al Ahli and Lekhiywa this month.
