Newcastle United have made a move for Napoli striker Manolo Gabbiadini.
The 24-year-old is also attracting interest from West Ham and Swansea City, with the latter said to have had a £14.1m offer turned down on Thursday.
However, despite the Swans’ move, the Magpies have reportedly approached the Serie A side with a lower bid of £12.8m for the man who’s scored 16 times in 44 games since making the switch from Sampdoria in 2014.
Steve McClaren, whose side are two points adrift of safety, is determined to add a striker to his squad in January.
The Tyneside club had a £23m offer accepted for Lyon and France forward Alexandre Lacazette last week, before the 23-year-old rejected a move.
Now it looks as though they’re fully focused on recruiting Gabbiadini, who has six caps for Italy.
