Norwich midfielder Hoolahan now has 27 international caps for the Republic of Ireland.

There was a healthy handful of Canaries that temporarily escaped the Premier League relegation battle during the international break, with Norwich City’s Wes Hoolahan seemingly making the most of the opportunity after putting in a man of the match display on Tuesday night.

The 33-year-old, who has scored four goals and provided eight assists in the league for Alex Neil’s side so far this season, played just over 70 minutes during the Republic of Ireland’s 2-2 draw against Slovakia.

After falling behind following Miroslav Stoch’s early effort in Dublin, the hosts pulled themselves ahead in an instant, with two penalty kicks from Shane Long and James McClean completing a rapid turnaround after just 24 minutes played inside the Aviva Stadium.

However Paul McShane’s own goal on the stroke of half-time denied Ireland a healthy win during their preparations for this summer’s Euro 2016 campaign, where Martin O’Neill’s men face Sweden in their opening Group E fixture on June 13.

Hoolahan also featured for 11 minutes during Ireland’s 1-0 win over Switzerland last Friday.
