Having already brought in ten new signings to Villa Park this summer, Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood is heavily tipped to complete his 11th acquisition in the form of England international Joleon Lescott.

The 33-year-old, who has earned 26 international caps for the Three Lions, scored once in 37 appearances in all competitions for West Brom last season.

However; the former Everton and Manchester City centre-half is now deemed surplus to requirements at The Hawthorns under boss Tony Pulis following the £6m arrival of Northern Ireland international Jonny Evans from Manchester United last week.

Despite already bringing in fellow defenders Jordan Amavi (Nice), Jose Angel Crespo (Cordoba) and Micah Richards (Manchester City) respectively this summer, Villa are likely to strengthen their defensive ranks ahead of Tuesday’s 6pm deadline as the Midlands club look to improve upon last campaign’s 17th place finish.
