Chelsea fans could be forgiven for celebrating long into the Bank Holiday weekend as the Blues secured a second Champions League title in dramatic fashion after beating Manchester City 1-0 in Porto.

Thomas Tuchel’s side had been struggling for form in the final weeks of the season after suffering defeats to West Bromwich Albion, Aston Villa and Arsenal, as well as the FA Cup final defeat to Leicester City.

However, the German masterminded a superb victory over City, a result that means Citizens boss Pep Guardiola must wait at least another year to win the competition for the first time since departing Barcelona in 2012.

Chelsea’s underdog victory was the highlight of almost all of the players’ careers, especially the club’s plethora of talent who have graduated from their Cobham academy in recent seasons.

For others, however, it may well have been the perfect ending to their time the club, with a number of players being linked with a departure from Stamford Bridge this summer.

Willy Caballero, Tammy Abraham, Jorginho and Olivier Giroud are all expected to leave this summer, with the latter’s contract due to expire in a few weeks.

However, it appears that the Frenchman already has a number of potential suitors ready to snap him up if he does leave South West London.

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, West Ham United are hoping to sign the World Cup winner this summer.

Moyes is apparently keen on bolstering his ranks ahead of a demanding schedule next season

It had been reported that the 34-year-old was on the verge of joining Italian side AC Milan, however the Hammers are hopeful of hijacking the Serie A side’s plans.

Chelsea reportedly have no interest in offering Giroud a contract extension, meaning that he will be free to leave the club in July.

The Hammers could offer Giroud a third stint in London, after spending time with both Chelsea and Arsenal and being heavily linked with Tottenham Hotspur last year.

West Ham boss David Moyes is believed to be keen on bolstering his ranks ahead of what promises to be a gruelling season with Europa League football awaiting the Hammers.

Giroud, who has won an FA Cup, Europa League and Champions League since departing Arsenal for Chelsea in 2018, could provide Moyes with invaluable experience next term.

A third club are also claimed to be in the race to sign the France international, with MLS side New York City FC also keen on agreeing a deal for the player.

Giroud scored 11 times in 31 appearances for the Blues this season, with six of those coming in the Champions League.

Where his next stop is remains to be seen, but the veteran striker may decide to wait until after this summer’s Euros before deciding on his club future.
