Crystal Palace are prepared to open transfer talks for Mamadou Sakho despite the £30m price tag on the defender.

According to a report in the Liverpool Echo the London side are prepared to open talks about signing the defender on a permanent deal.

Sakho made an incredible difference to Palace’s season with his introduction to the side proving the catalyst for a great winning run that secured safety with one match left to play.

The downside of that form has seen Liverpool slap a £30m price tag on the defender who fell foul of Jurgen Klopp during Liverpool’s pre-season trip to America.

There were no serious offers to sign the French defender last summer but West Brom and Southampton have been linked although not at the £30m price tag.

Palace chief Steve Parish claimed in a radio interview that the defender liked the club but it’s take more than that to drive a deal between the two sides.
