Crystal Palace are reportedly working on a deal to bring Newcastle United’s Fabricio Coloccini to Selhurst Park.

The Tyneside skipper has become former Magpies manager Alan Pardew’s number one defensive target this summer after seemingly missing out on Swansea captain Ashley Williams.

The 33-year-old Argentine international scored once in 36 appearances in all competitions for Newcastle last season.

With new Magpies head coach Steve McClaren still undecided on whether Coloccini will remain the club’s captain ahead of the new season, the defender could be tempted into joining former Newcastle star Yohan Cabaye at Palace following his move from Paris Saint-Germain.
