There will be very few managers under more pressure than Mikel Arteta next season.

The Spaniard oversaw one of Arsenal’s worst seasons of this century, after they failed to qualify for any European competitions for the first time in 25 years.

While the emergence of Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe were definite high points, it was the form of senior stars such as Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang which really cost them.

The former Man City assistant boss is currently overseeing a rebuild which has already seen Brighton and Hove Albion defender Ben White arrive at the Emirates for £50 million.

However, the Gunners are also looking to move some of their fringe players on to pastures new, and former captain and now Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira is interested in signing winger Reiss Nelson on loan, according to Sky Sports News.

Nelson joined Arsenal at the age of 8.

The 21-year-old only made two league appearances for the North Londoners last season, and a move to Palace could be the perfect opportunity for the young Englishman to get some more experience under his belt.

He was sent on loan to Bundesliga side Hoffenheim in the 2018/19 season where he enjoyed a successful time working under now Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann.

Unfortunately first-team appearances have been very hard to come by for the 21-year-old since he’s returned to London and he has mainly been confined to Premier League 2 appearances.

Vieira is believed to be a huge fan of Nelson and he is very keen on adding him to his list of Palace signings which include Marc Guehi of Chelsea, Joachim Andersen of Lyon and Michael Olise from Reading.
