Manchester United are on the verge of re-signing France international Paul Pogba.

The Premier League side, who take on defending league champions Leicester City in the 2016 FA Community Shield at Wembley Stadium this afternoon, have been continually linked with a move for the Juventus midfielder throughout this summer’s transfer window.

The 23-year-old, who is set to undergo a medical with the Red Devils in the next few days, is set to smash the world record transfer fee by becoming the first £100m player.

Pogba, who left Old Trafford back in 2012 for around £1.5m after rejecting a new deal, will snatch the honour from Wales’ Gareth Bale following his £85m switch from Tottenham to Real Madrid back in 2013.

It is understood that personal terms are still to be agreed with the France star, but United hope to confirm Pogba’s arrival in midweek.

New Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho admitted on Friday that he wanted the deal to be completed before the club’s opening Premier League tie against AFC Bournemouth on August 14.

Once confirmed, Pogba will become the ‘Special One’s’ fourth summer addition, joining Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic at The Theatre of Dreams ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.
