Carlos Pena is on his way to join Bruno Alves at Rangers.

According to a report in The Sun the Chivas playmaker is on his way to Ibrox to sign a three year deal.

Pedro Caixinha got his first deal completed today when Alves signed a two year deal from Cagliari with more expected this week with the team back in pre-season training on Monday June 5.

Pena, a 27 year old midfielder known in Mexico as Gullit, will require a work permit but the players agent and Rangers are confident that the criteria will be met.

Rangers are in action in the Europa League first round qualifiers on June 29 with the clock ticking rapidly towards those matches.

Ryan Jack is expected to sign from Aberdeen as Caixinha seeks to bring in a stronger backbone to his side for the tasks ahead with the priorities being to challenge Celtic for the title and reach the group stage of the Europa League.
