Manchester United return to Premier League action when they face Brentford after the international break.

The Red Devils produced one of their best displays of the season to beat rivals Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-finals last time out.

United ran out 4-3 victors after extra-time, setting up a semi-final against Championship side Coventry City at Wembley.

In the meantime, it appears that those in charge of the club are considering potential replacements for manager Erik ten Hag.

According to Football Insider, Brighton and Hove Albion boss Roberto De Zerbi has leapfrogged former Seagulls manager Graham Potter in the running to replace Ten Hag.

Potter, who left Brighton to take charge of Chelsea in 2022, has been out of work since being sacked by the Blues in April last year.

De Zerbi is among the favourites to replace Erik ten Hag, if he departs Old Trafford

De Zerbi replaced the Englishman at The Amex and made an instant impact, guiding the south coast side to a sixth-placed finish in the Premier League table last term.

That earned the club a place in the Europa League, but De Zerbi’s side were knocked out of the competition by Italian side Roma last week.

While Ten Hag has guided United to two domestic cup finals since taking charge of the club, the Dutchman’s future has been thrown into doubt following Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS’ recent part-takeover of the club.

United’s dismal performance in the Champions League, where they failed to progress past the group stage, is said to be one factor that has put the former Ajax boss under pressure.

Brighton manager De Zerbi has also been linked with soon-to-be vacant managerial roles at both Liverpool and Spanish side Barcelona.
