Chelsea’s revival under Thomas Tuchel continues to hit new and unexpected heights.

Their 1-1 draw away to Real Madrid means a goalless draw would see them through to their first Champions League final since their crowning 2011/12 campaign under the stewardship of then caretaker manager Roberto Di Matteo.

The German’s arrival at Stamford Bridge elicited anger and fury as a huge percentage of Chelsea fans were outraged at the sacking of club legend Frank Lampard who was relieved from his position with the Blues ninth in the Premier League table.

However, Tuchel has gained the support, trust and admiration of the Chelsea faithful, having steered the club back into the top four, an FA Cup final and potentially to a Champions League final.

While performances, and most importantly, results have drastically improved, they are far from the finished article as Chelsea have struggled to score goals under the German.

They have only scored more than two goals in a match on one occasion this season and summer signing Timo Werner missed another huge opportunity against Real Madrid, firing straight at goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois from only five yards out.

It is a situation which has concerned Chelsea fans, but they could be even more worried as the Daily Mirror report the Blues could be set to allow young striker and current joint top goalscorer Tammy Abraham to leave Stamford Bridge.

Abraham has scored six Premier League goals and 12 in all competitions.

The academy striker has only played 126 minutes of Premier League football since Tuchel’s arrival, who seems to prefer deploying Kai Havertz as a false nine.

The Mirror also claim the 23-year-old could be allowed to leave if an offer of around £40 million is made for the England international.

Aston Villa, who Abraham scored 26 goals for during a loan spell at Villa Park in the 2018/19 season, have emerged as contenders for his signature.

The Villans are desperate for new firepower to relieve pressure of captain Jack Grealish and lone forward Ollie Watkins, meaning Abraham could be the perfect solution.
