Chelsea took a break from Premier League football at the weekend in order to book their place in the FA Cup final with an emphatic 4-2 win over London rivals Tottenham at Wembley Stadium.
The Blues, who were set to play Southampton at the weekend, now have the rearraged fixture to contend with just three days later, something which manager Antonio Conte was far from pleased about in his post-match press conference at the national stadium.
The Saints, who had their own day under the arch in February when, after a sensational performance, they were beaten in the EFL Cup final by Manchester United thanks to a later winner from Zlatan Ibrahimovic, come into the game fresh from ten days off.
However, Claude Puel’s side will need to be well above the level they showed last weekend, losing 3-0 to Manchester City with most of their players looking as if they were dreaming of summer holidays already.
One silver lining from the game against City was the return of January signing Manolo Gabbiadini from a groin injury, picked up against Tottenham, and Puel will need him back at his blistering best if Saints are to get anything at Stamford Bridge.
Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte could well reinstate top scorer Diego Costa, who was dropped to the bench at Wembley before being introduced for the last half an hour.
But just how do the two star men stack up this season? Take a look…
