A number of Premier League stars left their respective clubs on loan during the recent transfer window.

From youngsters looking for first team experience, to out of favour stars looking to get their career back on track, there is no shortage of Premier League talent currently plying their trade elsewhere.

Here, we take a look at five on-loan Premier League stars who have started the season strongly at their new clubs.

Nicolas Pepe – Nice (on loan from Arsenal)

Arsenal’s most expensive ever signing has struggled for form and game time ever since arriving in London. The Ivorian has largely played a bit-part role for The Gunners ever since joining from Lille in 2019, and he was sent out on loan to Ligue 1 side Nice towards the end of the recent window. Since returning to France, the 27-year-old has impressed, and he netted his first goal for the club during a 2-1 win over former side Lille last month.

Callum Hudson-Odoi – Bayer Leverkusen (on loan from Chelsea)

Hudson-Odoi registered an assist on his Leverkusen debut

Hudson-Odoi is another player that was sent out on loan in an attempt to revive his stuttering career. The winger had been a part of the first team at Chelsea for the past four years, but inconsistent form and injuries last season saw him fall down the pecking order under former Blues boss Thomas Tuchel. Since joining German side Leverkusen, the three-time England international has looked back to his best, providing an assist on his debut against Freiburg and also impressing against Club Brugge in the Champions League.

Dean Henderson – Nottingham Forest (on loan from Manchester United)

Henderson has saved two penalties already this season

Goalkeeper Henderson enjoyed a short stint as United’s first choice keeper towards the end of the 2020/21 campaign, but an injury over the following summer stunted his progress and he made just three appearances for The Red Devils last season, failing to play a single minute in the Premier League. The England international joined Forest on loan, remaining in the Premier League, and saved a penalty on his home debut for the club as they ran out 1-0 winners over West Ham. He has also since saved a spot kick from international teammate Harry Kane, and looks to have given himself at least a chance of securing a place in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the World Cup this winter.

Gabriel Slonina – Chicago Fire (on loan from Chelsea)

Slonina has been in great form for Chicago Fire

American goalkeeper Slonina signed for Chelsea over the summer but remained on loan at MLS side Chicago Fire for the remainder of the season. The 18-year-old had impressed over the past 12 months, but his form has improved even more since securing his next move. The teenage ‘keeper has kept two clean sheets in his last three games and looks increasingly likely to be competing for the starting spot at Stamford Bridge when he joins the club.

Nathan Tella – Burnley (on loan from Southampton)

Tella has impressed on loan at Burnley

Southampton winger Nathan Tella dropped down to the Championship over the summer, joining The Clarets on a season-long loan deal. The 23-year-old started the season in scintillating form, scoring three goals in four matches for Burnley. The former Arsenal academy star has made more than 40 appearances for Saints, and that number is likely to increase if his fine form continues.
