Manchester City became the first team in English top flight history to win four consecutive Premier League titles by beating West Ham United on Sunday.

The Citizens needed to beat the Hammers to ensure they lifted the trophy, and Phil Foden settled any nerves with a thunderous shot into the top corner within the opening minutes.

The England international then added his and City’s second before the break, but Mohammed Kudus’ spectacular overhead kick pulled the visitors back into the game.

Midfielder Rodri added a third for City in the second half, and Pep Guardiola’s side held on to lift a sixth top flight title in seven years.

Next up for City is the FA Cup final against rivals Manchester United at Wembley, but in the meantime it appears that the club are working hard to sign a Premier League star.

Paqueta has enjoyed a fine season for the Hammers

According to FootMercato via The Express, City have agreed personal terms with West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta and are now working on a deal to sign the player.

It is claimed that the two clubs are set for discussions in the coming weeks, with City hopeful of agreeing a deal at a lower price than the player’s £85 million release clause.

If they can’t agree a cheaper deal, the report suggests that City will likely still agree to meet the player’s clause in order to sign him.

Paqueta, 26, joined the Hammers from French side Lyon in the summer of 2022 and has since made 84 appearances for the club, scoring 13 goals and registering 14 assists.

The midfielder, who is a regular for the Brazil national side, is contracted to West Ham until the end of the 2026/27 campaign.

Paqueta is capable of playing on the left as well as in central midfield.
