Why have Newcastle signed him?

The 2014/15 campaign was one to forget for Newcastle United fans as they narrowly avoided relegation on the final day of the season. However, under the new leadership of Steve McClaren they have been positive in the transfer market and the Toon Army will hope that the signing of Mitrovic can help them have a much more successful season this time out. Newcastle have signed the Serbian to help contribute the vital goals that they lacked last season. He is a genuine centre forward who has proved himself at the top level with 27 goals last season for Anderlecht, including a last minute equaliser against Arsenal in the Champions League. The fact he was linked with teams such as Chelsea and Roma means this is a top signing for the Magpies and they will be hoping his goals can fire them to a top half finish.

Will he be a good capture?

Mitrovic is a powerful and athletic player who thrives off crosses and is very dangerous in the air. His presence will give Newcastle a focal point in attack, something they haven’t really had since Demba Ba departed. The  is more then just a target man though and his build up play meant he got eight assists for Anderlecht last season. His physical nature should help him adapt to the Premier League and he has similarities to Edin Dzeko, who has done well in England. If he can settle into life in the Premier League then he could be a real handful for opposition defenders.
