With Chelsea out of action until they face London rivals West Ham United on Monday evening, those in charge of the club’s recruitment will be working hard in the final days of the transfer window.

The Blues are yet to make a senior signing so far this month, although the West London outfit have been heavily linked with a number of players.

Several of Enzo Maresca’s current squad have also been linked with moves away from Stamford Bridge, and it appears that a Premier League rival is now monitoring one of their attackers.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Aston Villa are keeping tabs on Chelsea forward Joao Felix.

The Portuguese joined Chelsea from Atletico Madrid last summer, returning for a second spell at Stamford Bridge having previously spent time on loan at the club.

He has endured a frustrating season so far, though, and has primarily seen his playing time limited to the Europa Conference League and Carabao Cup.

Felix could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge in the final days of the transfer window

Felix, 25, has scored seven goals in 20 matches across all competitions but has started just three of Chelsea’s 23 Premier League games and has been an unused substitute on eight occasions in the competition.

Romano claims that the player’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is talking to a number of clubs as we enter into the final days of the transfer window, with several sides said to be monitoring the player’s situation.

Felix signed a long-term deal when he joined Chelsea last year and is therefore contracted to the West London side until the end of the 2029/2030 campaign.

The Portugal international’s versatility could appeal to Villa boss Unai Emery, as he is able to play in a variety of attacking positions including on the left flank, as a ‘number ten’, or as a striker.
