Everton remain unbeaten under manager Ronald Koeman in the Premier League following Monday night’s comfortable 3-0 win over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

An 11-minute second-half hat-trick from Romelu Lukaku proved to be the difference, as the Belgian netted his first goals for the Toffees since March. They now move onto ten points, whilst the Black Cats remain winless under fellow new boss David Moyes with just the one point so far.

In the big clash of the weekend, it was Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City who came out on top of Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United with a 2-1 win at Old Trafford.

United were slow out of the blocks and were punished when Kevin De Bruyne coolly finished from a Kelechi Iheanacho flick-on. The same two combined to double the visitors’ lead, this time De Bruyne striking the post and Iheanacho tapping in the rebound.

The home side responded before half-time when debutant Claudio Bravo flapped at a free-kick, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic on hand to arrow in a strike. However City held on to make it four wins from four to start their season, whilst inflicting a first defeat for Jose Mourinho at United.

Chelsea’s 100% record to start the season came to an end as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium. Diego Costa put the Blues ahead with a tidy finish, but the game was turned upside down in the space of three minutes as Gylfi Sigurdsson netted a penalty to level things before Leroy Fer poked the Swans ahead.

However Antonio Conte’s side found an equaliser through the prominent Costa, who produced an acrobatic strike to rescue a point. Chelsea remain unbeaten, but fail to win for the first time this season, whereas the Swans fail to win for the third successive game.

Liverpool routed defending champions Leicester City 4-1 in their first game at the newly developed Anfield. The hosts led 2-0 in the first-half through Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, before Jamie Vardy was gifted a goal back.

Adam Lallana’s thumping strike restored the two-goal advantage, before Firmino added his second in the final minute. Liverpool secure their first win since the opening day, whilst the Foxes have just one win from their opening four matches.

Tottenham maintained their unbeaten start as they thrashed Stoke City 4-0 at the Bet365 Stadium. Two strikes from Son Heung-min had the visitors in control before Dele Alli and Harry Kane netted to seal a comfortable win. Stoke are now bottom after suffering their third straight defeat, whereas Spurs sit on eight points with two wins and two draws.

Arsenal scored a late penalty to overcome Southampton 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium. It was the visitors who took the lead in bizarre fashion when Dusan Tadic’s free-kick struck the crossbar and rebounded into the net off of Petr Cech’s back. The Gunners levelled just before the half hour through a superb Laurent Koscielny overhead kick.

It took until stoppage time for the home side to find the winner, after Jose Fonte was adjudged to have fouled Olivier Giroud and Santi Cazorla stepped up to net from the spot. Arsenal make it two consecutive wins after failing to win their first two games of the season, whilst Saints remain winless from their first four games.

Watford stunned West Ham United at the London Stadium as they came from behind to win 4-2. The Hammers led 2-0 through two Michail Antonio strikes, the second a header from an outrageous Dimitri Payet rabona cross. However the Hornets had levelled the game by half-time through an Odion Ighalo deflected strike and a Troy Deeney chip.

The visitors took the lead shortly after the break through Etienne Capoue’s wonderful volley before Jose Holebas made it four to complete a stunning comeback. The win is Watford’s first under Walter Mazzarri, meanwhile the Hammers fall to a third defeat from their first four games.

Crystal Palace beat Middlesbrough 2-1 at the Riverside for their first win of the season. Christian Benteke put the visitors ahead on his debut with a trademark header, before Daniel Ayala responded with a header of his own. Palace netted the winner early in the second-half when Wilfried Zaha finished with aplomb. The win takes Palace onto four points and inflicts a first defeat of the season on newly promoted Boro.

Hull City netted a late goal to grab a 1-1 draw with Burnley at Turf Moor. Steven Defour gave the hosts the lead with just 18 minutes remaining with a tremendous solo strike, but were denied in the fifth minute of stoppage time by a fantastic Robert Snodgrass free-kick. Hull move onto seven points and bounce back from defeat last time out, whereas the Clarets are now up to four points.

AFC Bournemouth left it late to beat West Brom 1-0 at the Vitality Stadium. The only goal of the game came 11 minutes from the end, when Callum Wilson flicked in Adam Smith’s cross for his first goal in nearly a year. The win is the Cherries’ first of the season to take them onto four points, level with beaten Albion in the standings.
