England battled to a narrow 1-0 victory over Australia in a friendly at Wembley on Friday.

The hosts struggled to create chances against an impressive Australia side, but Ollie Watkins’ second-half goal was enough to earn Gareth Southgate’s side victory.

Next up for the Three Lions is a crucial Euro 2024 qualifier against Italy on Tuesday evening, and Southgate is likely to make a number of changes to his side for what will be a difficult test.

The likes of Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham and Harry Maguire will be expected to return to the starting line up after sitting out Friday’s win.

Maguire remains a regular for his country despite rarely featuring for Manchester United at club level.

The defender was heavily linked with a move away from United over the summer, but it appears that one of the interested clubs could soon make another offer.

Maguire remains of interest to West Ham

As per ESPN, West Ham United are considering making a fresh offer for the centre-back, having failed to lure him from Manchester to London over the summer.

The 30-year-old joined the Red Devils from Leicester City back in 2019 and initially played an important role for the club.

He has fallen out of favour since the arrival of manager Erik ten Hag last summer, though, and is currently below the likes of Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof in the pecking order at Old Trafford.

In total Maguire has made 179 appearances for United across all competitions, but his future appears extremely uncertain considering his current lack of game time.

With that in mind, the Hammers could renew their interest in the player when the transfer window reopens in January if his lack of playing time continues.
