Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips is set for a medical ahead of a move to Premier League champions Manchester City.

As per Sky Sports, the Englishman will undergo his medical on Friday, with a £45 million deal having already been agreed between the two clubs.

Phillips has established himself as one of the Premier League’s best midfielders since Leeds’ promotion two years ago, but it appears that his time in Yorkshire is now coming to an end.

City boss Pep Guardiola is keen to find a replacement for Fernandinho, who departed the club at the end of the season after a trophy-laden nine-year spell in Manchester.

Phillips is a step closer to joining Manchester City

Although he already has Rodri at his disposal, Guardiola was keen to add at least one more central midfielder to his squad, and it appears that he now has his wish as Phillips is on the verge of joining the Citizens.

The report claims that Phillips turned down a number of clubs, reportedly including City’s rivals Manchester United, out of loyalty to Leeds.

The England international, who has now made 23 appearances for the Three Lions since making his debut in 2020, was reportedly persuaded to join City by the prospect of playing in the Champions League.
