Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly in pole position to land Sunderland striker Danny Graham on loan.

The Championship club are thought to be willing to cover his wages since the out-of-favour forward is deemed surplus to requirements at the Stadium of Light this season.

The 30-year-old, who joined the Black Cats from Swansea City back in 2013, has scored just once in 34 appearances for the Premier League side.

It is understood that manager Dick Advocaat is willing to allow the striker a loan move to Hillsborough, meaning Graham could join fellow Sunderland teammate Will Buckley out on loan as the winger looks to finalise a transfer to Leeds United.
