Arsenal benefit from an extended break before their crucial Premier League encounter against Manchester City on Easter Sunday.

The Gunners currently sit top of the pile, ahead of Liverpool on goal difference and just a single point above the Citizens.

The game at The Etihad on 31 March could go a long way towards deciding who wins the title this term, with the Gunners bidding to lift the trophy for the first time in two decades.

Regardless of whether or not Arsenal are victorious, it appears that those in charge of the club are already preparing for the upcoming summer transfer window.

Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak is on the club’s list of targets, according to Football Insider.

The report claims that the Gunners are hoping to sign a striker this summer, and the Sweden international is of interest.

Isak has attracted interest from Arsenal

Isak, 24, joined the Magpies from Spanish side Real Sociedad in 2022 and has since impressed on Tyneside.

The Swede has scored 26 goals in 57 games for Newcastle across all competitions, as well as registering three assists.

It is claimed that while Arsenal are yet to move for Isak this time around, they did make an effort to land the forward prior to his £63 million move to the North East.

Arteta and those in charge of the Gunners are hoping to add a new striker to their ranks this summer, and the report suggests that Brentford’s Ivan Toney, who had been heavily linked with a move to The Emirates, is no longer of interest to the club.

That could make a move for former Borussia Dortmund man Isak more likely, although it remains to be seen whether or not Newcastle would be willing to sell the star.

Isak is currently contracted to the Magpies until the end of the 2027/27 campaign.
