Premier League leaders Arsenal can briefly extend their advantage at the top of the table to four points with victory over Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.

Mikel Arteta’s side currently sit a single point ahead of reigning champions Manchester City, and victory over the Cherries would move them four points clear at least until City play Wolves later on in the day.

The Gunners finished as runners-up to the Citizens last term and manager Arteta will be desperate to see his side avenge that this time around.

Off the field, though, those in charge of the club’s recruitment are preparing for what could be a busy summer transfer window.

According to The Independent, the North London outfit have made Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak their top target ahead of the upcoming window.

The Swedish star has been in sensational form for the Magpies this season, netting 23 goals in 36 games across all competitions.

Isak has scored 23 times for Newcastle so far this season

His impressive displays have attracted attention from Arsenal, and the report suggests that Arteta is keen to add the Sweden international to his squad ahead of next season.

The 24-year-old joined Newcastle from Spanish side Real Sociedad in 2022, for a reported fee of £63 million.

His current contract isn’t set to expire until the end of the 2027/28 season, but it has been suggested that the North East giants may have to sell at least one key player in order to adhere to the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules.

Arsenal are said to see plenty of value in the Swede, however they do have a price in mind for the player and are reluctant to get drawn into a long-running transfer saga.

In total, Isak has scored 33 goals in 63 games for the Magpies since his move to years ago, as well as registering four assists.
