Preston North End and Coventry City are reportedly in the running to sign AFC Bournemouth midfielder Shaun MacDonald on loan.

The respective Championship and League One outfits are believed to be the frontrunners among a whole host of Football League clubs willing to offer the 27-year-old first-team action.

MacDonald, who has earned two international caps for Wales, has scored once in two League Cup appearances for the Cherries so far this season, but he is yet to make his Premier League bow under manager Eddie Howe.

Since joining Bournemouth back in 2011 from fellow Premier League side Swansea City; the Wales international has mustered just 55 starts, meaning MacDonald may be tempted to look elsewhere for regular football this term.
