Manchester United ran out 2-1 winners over West Ham United in a pre-season friendly in New Jersey on Sunday morning.

Bruno Fernandes netted twice for the Red Devils before Jarrod Bowen pulled one back for the Hammers, but Ruben Amorim’s side ultimately held on to pick up their first victory of pre-season so far.

Amorim’s side struggled last term and finished 15th in the Premier League table, meaning they will not compete in Europe during the upcoming campaign.

The Red Devils have been busy in the transfer market so far this summer, adding Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo to Amorim’s squad.

Now, it appears that they are making progress in their pursuit of another attacker.

As reported by Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko has been impressed by Man United’s efforts to sign him.

The journalist claims that both Man United and Newcastle United are keen to sign the Slovenian forward, with the Red Devils having presented an offer to the player and pitched their project to him.

Newcastle are said to still be in the running to land the player, with the Magpies plotting a new offer for the Slovenia international.

Leipzig are said to be demanding a fee in excess of £70 million for the player, who they signed from Red Bull Salzburg in 2023.

Since then Sesko has scored 39 goals in 87 games for the German side across all competitions, and his impressive form has attracted significant interest from clubs in the Premier League.

The striker is under contract at his current club until the end of the 2028/29 season, but both Newcastle and Man United are attempting to lure him to England before the current transfer window shuts.
