Manchester United face fierce rivals Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley on Saturday.

Erik ten Hag’s side booked their place in the season curtain-raiser with a victory over the Citizens in the FA Cup final at the same venue at the end of last term, while City are in the tie as Premier League champions.

United have experienced a mixed run of results during pre-season, beating both Rangers and Real Betis but losing to Arsenal and Rosenborg.

Ten Hag will hope to see his side start the new campaign with a victory and a trophy, although City will undoubtedly provide an extremely stern test.

In the meantime, it appears that one of Europe’s biggest clubs are interested in one of United’s attackers.

As per Sky Sports, French champions Paris Saint-Germain have held talks over a potential move for United winger Jadon Sancho.

Sancho has been reintroduced into the first team squad at Old Trafford

The Englishman spent the second half of last season on loan at German outfit Borussia Dortmund after falling out with Ten Hag, but he has since returned to Old Trafford and been reintegrated into the first team setup.

United paid a staggering £73 million to sign Sancho, 24, from Dortmund back in 2021, after the England international had displayed sensational form in the Bundesliga.

He endured a difficult first two seasons in Manchester, though, before being ousted from the squad after criticising Ten Hag on social media following a game against Arsenal.

In January the winger was sent back to Dortmund on loan, where he scored twice and provided three assists in 14 German top flight games.

Sancho’s contract with United is set to run until the end of the 2025/26 campaign, but the report claims that PSG have opened discussions about the conditions of a potential deal.

The player himself is also said to be open to the prospect of a move to Paris.
