Paris Saint-Germain star Lionel Messi is expect to remain with the club for at least one more season, according to reports.

As per Sky Sports, the Argentina will stay put in the French capital for at least another 12 months, although teammate Neymar may be on the move.

Messi, 34, joined PSG last summer but it is believed that he will start next season there too, with the club keen on building a team around him, despite his age.

The Argentina international, who has scored nine goals and provided 13 assists for the French side this season, was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City last summer, which could have seen him reunite with ex-manager Pep Guardiola.

The move never materialised, though, as Messi joined PSG after more than 15 years in Catalunya.

Neymar, meanwhile, could be allowed to leave if the right offer is made for him, despite the future of Kylian Mbappe also being extremely uncertain.

The Brazilian, a former teammate of Messi at Barcelona, joined the French side for a fee of £198 million in 2017, and has since scored 98 goals and provided 59 assists in 141 games for the club.

Messi and Neymar may once again be at different clubs next season

His future has been called into question, though, with PSG reportedly ‘open to the idea’ of letting Neymar go, according to Sky.

The team is set to be rebuilt once again this summer, potentially under new management, as current boss Mauricio Pochettino is believed to be on the verge of being sacked.

Both Pochettino and sporting director Leonardo could be axed, despite guiding the club to the Ligue 1 title this season.

The news of PSG’s willingness to let Neymar go may come as a surprise, especially given the continued uncertainty surrounding Mbappe and his future.

The France international has scored 33 goals and provided 22 assists across all competitions this season, but his contract is set to expire this month and he is believed to be close to agreeing a deal to join Spanish side Real Madrid.

It is not yet known who PSG would target to replace Neymar and Mbappe if they do depart, although the report claims that the team for next season would be built around Messi.
