Niall Quinn believes John Stones could be England’s next Bobby Moore following his successful summer switch to Manchester City.

The football expert and columnist, in his latest Sky Sports feature, made the bold comparison between the 22-year-old Citizen and the legendary defender who captained the Three Lions to their World Cup triumph back in 1966.

He said, “With the amount of football he has in him John Stones could be the next Bobby Moore for England.

“It’s surprising that Manchester City didn’t experience more competition for his signature.

“I would have thought that his style would suit most of the top continental sides. Their loss is Pep’s gain.”

Stones, who has 13 international caps and is included in England’s squad to face Scotland on Friday night, has made 18 appearances in all competitions for Pep Guardiola’s City so far this season.

The former Barnsley centre-half joined the Citizens from fellow Premier League outfit Everton back in August for a reported £47.5m.
