Ralf Rangnick set to bring in £17million Cristiano Ronaldo replacement, according to FourFourTwo.

The club with Rangnick leading the charge are reportedly interested in securing the services of South American youngster Julian Alvarez.

The signing will be seen as a long-term replacement of club legend Cristiano Ronaldo who only joined in the summer and is United’s top scorer this season.

Ronaldo’s future at Manchester United is in doubt, despite love from the fans.

Rangnick has been given the go-ahead to improve his squad in January, given the Red Devils’ current struggles in the Premier League.

Alvarez plays his football for famous Argentinian club and enjoyed a decent calendar year in 2021 scoring 21 goals and providing 13 assists across the year.

The youngster is very busy and has been compared to the likes of Edinson Cavani and an in-form Alexis Sanchez with a bright future ahead of him.

Of course the transition from South America to the Premier League can often be difficult for a player, especially someone so young with Alvarez just 21, turning 22 at the end of this month.

If the club were to bring him in, Rangnick and the player would be under pressure immediately given the fans’ love for Ronaldo.
