Rangers have made a loan approach for Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke, according to Football Insider

The 21-year-old is highly-rated at Anfield but has yet to make a first-team appearance this season due to the form of fellow forwards Roberto Firmino, Daniel Sturridge and, more recently, Divock Origi.

This has resulted in speculation that the one-capped England international could be set for a temporary move away from Merseyside in January.

It is reported that Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is looking to borrow from his former club with the ex-Chelsea starlet his number 1 target for the upcoming transfer window.

Steven Gerrard wants to bring a striker to Ibrox in January.

And it is thought the Scottish Premiership side, who sit second in the league table, have made a formal offer for the 2017 Under-20 World Cup winner.

However, with a number of Premier League clubs, including Crystal Palace, also weighing up an offer, it remains to be seen if Rangers can get a deal over the line.

Since moving to Liverpool in 2017, Solanke has scored once in 27 appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
