Reading have joined Nottingham Forest and Rangers in the race to sign West Ham kid Reece Oxford.

According to a report in the Daily Mail Jaap Stam has decided to make a move for the talented defender who signed a four and a half year contract with the Hammers shortly before Christmas.

The 18-year-old has recently recovered from a two month injury lay off and is one of the highest rated young defenders in the game.

Rangers were first to register their interest in Oxford but are unlikely to be able to compete with Forest or Reading.

Slaven Bilic has high hopes for the England youth cap and will decide which club offers the best development route.

With Forest currently without a manager the odds favour a move to Reading where Oxford can work alongside a manager who was one of the best central defenders in the game over the last 20 years.
