Trent Alexander-Arnold will join Real Madrid and represent the Spanish side at the FIFA Club World Cup this summer.

The La Liga giants announced on Friday that they have agreed to sign the right-back on a six-year deal.

Alexander-Arnold is a product of Liverpool’s youth academy and has played more than 350 times for his boyhood club across all competitions, winning no fewer than nine trophies including two Premier League titles and the Champions League.

During that time he registered a staggering total of 92 assists for the Reds, as well as scoring 23 times including a late winner against Leicester City as Arne Slot’s side closed in on the Premier League title.

His contract is set to expire this summer, though, and the 26-year-old announced earlier this month that he would depart Anfield at the end of the current campaign.

While the player’s deal isn’t set to officially expire until the end of June, Real Madrid have announced that the England international will be part of their squad for the Club World Cup which begins on June 14.

Real are due to face Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg, Saudi outfit Al-Hilal and Mexican club Pachuca in the group stages of the competition, which is taking place in the United States following its expansion to a 32-team tournament.

Alexander-Arnold could come up against Chelsea or Manchester City in the tournament, with the two Premier League giants also competing to win the inaugural trophy.

The full-back will also join up with England teammate Jude Bellingham in Madrid, with the midfielder having moved to Real in the summer of 2023.
