International football has been on the front and back of the newspapers this summer with everyone glued to the Euros.

But it’s been a far from quiet summer in club football to date with many Premier League sides adding to their squads ahead of the upcoming 2021/22 campaign.

One of those is Manchester United who finally secured a deal to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund last week.

And it seems that the Red Devils are not done yet, with speculation rife that they are aiming to add a serial winning defender to their ranks.

That man is, according to ABC Sports, is Raphael Varane who looks set to leave Real Madrid with just one year left on his deal.

Varane played all of France’s four matches at Euro 2020.

The report claims that the 28-year-old has already agreed personal terms with United and that it is now down to the two clubs to seal the deal.

That could be a sticking point though as it’s thought that the Red Devils are prepared to pay £38.5m but the Spanish giants want £51.39m to part with the player that has helped them win four Champions Leagues.

Varane joined Los Blancos in 2011 from Lens and has played 360 matches in all competitions.

The powerful centre-back has recently been knocked out of Euro 2021 as France lost to Switzerland but he is a World Cup winner having won the 2018 competition in Russia.
