Real Madrid are planning to sign Tottenham Hotspur star Christian Eriksen and make an approach for boss Mauricio Pochettino, according to reports.

Eriksen, 27, was linked with a move away from North London all summer and is now in the final year of his contract.

The Mirror report that the Denmark international has turned down the offer of a new £200,000 per week deal in order to wait for the Spanish giants.

It’s claimed the La Liga side will attempt to recruit the playmaker on a pre-contract agreement in January, meaning they won’t have a transfer fee to pay.

Eriksen has been a superstar for Spurs since his move from Ajax in 2013.

Eriksen has so far looked out of sorts this term, most recently failing to impress as Tottenham were knocked out of the EFL Cup at Colchester United on Tuesday night.

It’s also thought that Real have made Pochettino their top target to replace Zinedine Zidane in the managerial hotseat.

Zidane, who’s in his second spell in charge at the Bernabeu, is feeling the heat after an unimpressive start to the season which included a 3-0 Champions League defeat at Paris Saint-Germain.

Despite getting Spurs to their first Champions League final last term. Pochettino is under pressure after having won just five of the last 18 Premier League matches.

The Argentine joined Spurs in the summer of 2013 and is under contract until 2023 but it’s thought Real would be happy to pay the compensation needed to release him from his £8.5million annual salary.
