Liverpool will hope to move three points clear at the top of the Premier League table when they face Newcastle United on Monday evening.

Jurgen Klopp’s side currently sit ahead of second-placed Aston Villa on goal difference, but victory over the Magpies would move them clear at the summit.

The Reds welcome their opponents to Anfield with Eddie Howe’s side currently in a spell of bad form, having won just one of their last five Premier League matches.

Despite the January transfer window only opening officially on Monday, Liverpool have already been busy and it appears that they could soon allow one of their players to leave the club.

Midfielder Fabio Carvalho was recalled from his loan spell at RB Leipzig last week, but Fabrizio Romano claims that the Portuguese could soon be sent back out.

Carvalho has returned to Anfield but could soon depart on loan once again

The 21-year-old joined Liverpool from Fulham back in the summer of 2022, and has made 21 appearances for the Reds across all competitions.

He has scored three goals in total for Klopp’s side, but Carvalho was sent out on loan to Leipzig last summer in a bid to secure regular game time.

The move didn’t go to plan, though, as the attacking midfielder has been limited to just 15 appearances across all competitions so far this season.

Carvalho, a Portugal Under-21 international, has started just one Bundesliga match and played a total of 158 minutes in the competition.

During his brief spell in Germany, Carvalho failed to score a single goal or provide a single assist.

Despite his struggles, Romano claims that Liverpool will allow him to leave on loan once again but will not accept offers to sell the Portuguese.

He also claims that the Premier League outfit will seek assurances over playing time when assessing loan offers.
