Portugal will find out their opponents in the last 16 of the World Cup on Friday, when the group stage of the competition comes to a close.

With Portugal almost certain to finish top of Group H, they will likely face one of Switzerland, Cameroon or Serbia, although they could also face Brazil if certain results occurred.

Fernando Santos’ side face South Korea in their final group stage match on Friday, and Cristiano Ronaldo will be looking to get on the scoresheet after failing to do so last time out.

Ronaldo claimed to have scored Portugal’s opener against Uruguay on Monday, but the goal was officially awarded to teammate Bruno Fernandes afterwards.

The 37-year-old remains without a club following his departure from Manchester United last week, although new reports claim that he is closing in on a lucrative move.

According to Spanish publication Marc via The Mail, Ronaldo has agreed a mega money move to Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr.

The report claims that the forward has agreed a deal that will earn him a staggering £172.9 million-per-year, although nothing has yet been signed.

The deal will reportedly run for two-and-a-half years, meaning the player will be 40-years-old when it expires.

Ronaldo has reportedly agreed a lucrative move to Al Nassr

Ronaldo rejoined Manchester United last summer, signing a two-year-deal, but he failed to see out the entirety of the contract, leaving the club by mutual consent last week.

The news came after the player gave a shock interview with Piers Morgan, during which he criticised a number of areas of the club including its owners, manager Erik ten Hag, and several of his former teammates.

Ronaldo and Ten Hag endured a strained relationship, which first began to break down when the forward refused to be substituted on during United’s win over Tottenham earlier this season.

He was fined for his actions and missed The Red Devils’ following match against Chelsea, but Ronaldo then criticised the decision when speaking to Morgan, which triggered the player’s departure.

During the interview, he also revealed that he had rejected an offer from an unnamed Saudi Arabian club over the summer, however he now appears to have changed his mind.

Ronaldo initially decided he wanted to leave United over the summer, intent on joining a club playing in the Champions League, but he failed to attract suitable offers and stayed put for the start of the current season.
