The Mirror are reporting that Wayne Rooney is close to finalising a deal worth £900,000-a-week to play in China.
The Manchester United star has been given the green light to make the move – which would see England’s record goal scorer become one of the richest players in the world.
A number of Chinese clubs are said to be ready to sign the player on a three-year contract worth about £47million annually, or around £900,000 a week.
Rooney’s late equaliser against Stoke last week broke Sir Bobby Charlton’s all time goalscoring record for United. Despite featuring less for Jose Mourinho’s team this season, many Manchester United fans believe the 31 year-old still has plenty to offer.
Rooney was in the Manchester United side that saw off Wigan 4-0 in the FA Cup on Sunday.
Mourinho’s side, who march on into the 5th round, are now preparing to host Hull City in the Premier League on Wednesday.
