Portsmouth went top of League Two after picking up a 2-1 victory against Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Stadium.

Gareth Evans’ header gave Pompey the lead but Jermaine Easter put Rovers level soon after the break. The game looked like it was heading for a draw, but Jayden Stockley prodded home from close-range.

Leyton Orient dropped to third, after failing to win for a fourth game on the bounce after drawing 1-1 away to Northampton. After a fairly disappointing 90 minutes, Town took the lead three minutes into stoppage time through Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s header, but Dean Cox’s superb free-kick in the 97th minute levelled the scores.

Wycombe rose to second after a 2-0 win over Exeter, who lost at home for the first time this campaign. Joe Jacobson and Gary Thompson scored the goals as Wanderers enjoyed their trip back to Buckinghamshire.

Accrington extend their unbeaten run to seven matches as they thrashed 10-man Crawley Town 3-0 on their travels. Strikes from Josh Windass, who scored from the spot after Luke Rooney had been sent off for the hosts, Matty Crooks and Billy Kee leave the West Sussex side second from bottom.

Elsewhere, Michael Gash’s brace saw Barnet beat Dagenham 3-1, Cambridge overcame Stevenage 1-0, substitute Jack Marriott scored twice as Luton beat Wimbledon 2-0, and Izale McLeod got the winner as Notts County won for the second time this week by beating York 1-0.

Meanwhile, Hartlepool ended their seven-game winless run with a 2-1 win at Yeovil, Plymouth missed out on the chance to go joint top after they drew 0-0 at Mansfield, who are still unbeaten at home this season, Oxford United and Morecambe also finished goalless and Newport tasted success for the first time this season with a 1-0 victory over Carlisle.
