Everton are reportedly eyeing a summer swoop for England international defender Phil Jones, according to The Times.

The Premier League side, who defeated Brighton and Hove Albion 2-0 at Goodison Park on Saturday, have been linked with the Manchester United centre-back ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 26-year-old, who has 24 international caps for the Three Lions, has made 21 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils so far this season.

Jones, who arrived at Old Trafford back in June 2011 following his reported £16.5m move from Blackburn Rovers, has scored five goals in 188 games overall for United.

The defender has not featured for Jose Mourinho’s side since February 11, where United lost 1-0 at Newcastle United, and has stiff competition in the centre of defence at United in the form of Eric Bailly, Marcos Rojo, Victor Lindelof and Chris Smalling.

Jones is contracted at The Theatre of Dreams until June 2019, but the club have an option to extend it automatically by a further year.

The report claims Toffees boss Sam Allardyce will make a move for the Englishman this summer, should he remain Everton manager beyond the end of the current 2017-18 campaign, with the defender valued at £16.2m, by transfermarkt.
