Leeds United defender Giuseppe Bellusci is attracting interest from four Serie A clubs after spending last term on loan at Empoli, according to Calciomercato (via Sport Witness).

The 27-year-old moved to Elland Road back in 2014 after five decent years at Catania, and has since appeared 61 times for the Yorkshire outfit, netting twice in that time.

However, he soon fell out of favour at the club at the rear end of the 2015/16 campaign, and was shipped out on loan by then-boss Garry Monk last summer to indicate that his time at Leeds was almost up.

Nonetheless, Empoli decided against triggering the permanent option in his loan contract following their relegation from Serie A, yet that hasn’t stopped interest mounting in Bellusci, with Benevento, Bologna, Chievo, and SPAL all reportedly interested in his services.

The Italian centre-back played 33 times for Empoli in the top-flight last term, and although he was unable to help them stay in Serie A, he earned many plaudits for his efforts in the side.

And with reports last week indicating that, regardless of what happens, he won’t be returning to Leeds next season, Bellusci will be on the lookout for a new club, and having had a taste of Serie A last term, he may feel inclined to go there again.

Whether he does indeed move back to Italy remains to be seen, but what is abundantly clear is that his time at Leeds is up after just three years at Elland Road.
