Manchester United travel to Czechia on Thursday to face Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League group phase.

After avoiding defeat in his first three matches in charge of the Red Devils, head coach Ruben Amorim has now seen his side beaten twice in a row in the Premier League.

United followed up a 2-0 loss against title-chasing Arsenal with a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford on Saturday.

That result left Amorim’s side 13th in the Premier League table, while they also sit 12th in the Europa League standings and will need to improve if they are to qualify automatically for the knockout phase of the competition.

Having taken charge of the Red Devils only last month, Amorim will likely want to made additions to his squad over the course of the next couple of transfer windows and, with that in mind, it appears that a Serie A striker is on his shortlist of targets.

Football Insider claims that the Manchester club have identified Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic as a potential target.

The Serbian striker has been one of the most prolific goal scorers in Europe over the past few seasons, netting 50 times in 118 games for The Old Lady since joining from Fiorentina in 2022.

Vlahovic is on Man United’s shortlist of targets as they search for a new striker

Vlahovic’s current contract is set to expire in less than two years, and the report claims that United are therefore monitoring his situation with a view to potentially moving for him next year.

It is claimed that the player is currently in talks with Juventus about the possibility of extending his deal, but progress has been slow and his future is therefore very much in doubt.

United have also been linked with a move for Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres, who enjoyed huge success during Amorim’s time at the Lisbon club.

The Red Devils’ interest in signing a new striker comes despite the club having signed both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee over the past 18 months.
