Defending Premier League champions Manchester City have made a strong start to the defence of their crown, winning five of their seven games so far this season.

Pep Guardiola’s side remain unbeaten and sit second in the table, just a point behind leaders Arsenal, with the Manchester derby against Manchester United up next after the international break.

The Citizens’ success has largely been down to the form of striker Erling Haaland, who has scored a remarkable 14 goals in his last nine games, including 11 in the Premier League.

The Norwegian scored yet again during City’s 3-0 win over Wolves on Saturday, as Jack Grealish, whose first goal of the season got City underway within the first minute of the match at Molineux.

The Englishman has endured a tough start to the season despite his team’s success, starting just two of City’s seven matches, and it appears to have taken its toll on him.

Grealish, 27, is already looking for his next move just over a year after joining City, according to reports.

Grealish is currently on international duty with England

As per 90min, the winger has told those close to him that he is unlikely to be a City player beyond next summer.

The report even goes as far as suggesting that former Aston Villa man Grealish has already instructed his agents to find him a new club.

The England international, who was included in Gareth Southgate’s latest squad despite having played rarely for his club, joined City from Villa last summer for a fee of around £105 million, a record for a British player.

During his first season at The Etihad, Grealish made 39 appearances across all competitions, but struggled in terms of attacking output.

The winger scored just six goals and registered just four assists across all competitions, despite City lifting the Premier League title.

The previous season, the Villa youth product had scored six goals and provided 12 assists in 26 league matches for his boyhood club, a run of form that attracted the interests of City and Guardiola.

He was included in the England squad for Euro 2020 last year, having made his debut in September 2020, and impressed during his first major international tournament, setting up goals against both Czech Republic and Germany.

During the early weeks of this season, though, the Englishman has often been snubbed by Guardiola, who has chosen the likes of Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva ahead of him.

It remains to be seen whether or not City would allow Grealish to leave the club already.
