Wonderkids from across the footballing world are held in very high regard here at Shoot!, we pride ourselves on being able to pick out those youngsters whose names will be on the lips of every footballing fan in a few years time.

Each week we aim to earmark the brightest talents from academies around the world and give you the lowdown on all aspects of their game ahead of their rise to the top.

Having profiled Tottenham’s Marcus Edwards in the last edition of Shoot! for the Stars, this week we are heading north to Man United, and taking an in-depth look at Angel Gomes.

At just 16-years-old we may not see the youngster in the first team for quite some time, however, we doubt that hewould look too out of place alongside messrs Rooney and Pogba, even ex-United star Clayton Blackmore thinks he could start for Mourinho’s side tomorrow.

The forward, who is just one of three Red Devils youngsters to have scored a hat-trick aged just 15, is the son of Gil Gomes, former Portuguese U-20 World Cup winner and is also the cousin of former Red, Nani.

Despite his Portuguese heritage, Gomes is involved in the England youth setup, and, as of this year, is the captain of the U16 side.

The United starlet, who is playing two years ahead of himself in the U18 side, has got of to a flyer this season, scoring five goals in as many games, helping his side to second in the Northern division.

The praise coming out of the Carrington training complex proves that this London born youngster is set for big things in the years to come, maybe even following in the footsteps of academy graduate, Marcus Rashford and find himself on the cover of a future Shoot! Annual.
