The Premier League may only just be under way, but the first international break is already just a fortnight away, with England facing San Marino and Switzerland in their next two Euro 2016 qualifiers as they look to secure their trip to France next summer.
Roy Hodgson’s Three Lions will be looking to maintain their 100% record, but the manager will be without some key players including Leighton Baines, Jack Wilshere, Danny Welbeck and Daniel Sturridge.
Here is Shoot’s 23-man squad.
The 2015/16 season is now well and truly underway and it is clear that Joe Hart is proving himself once again. He has been the obvious choice in goal for the England side since 2012 and after keeping three clean sheets in three games for Manchester City so far this season, one of which was against current champions Chelsea, he looks set to be a definite in Roy’s squad for the upcoming qualifiers.
Though yet to keep a clean sheet for Stoke in the Premier League this season, Butland produced a string of saves and a man-of-the-match performance against Norwich on Saturday to ensure the points were shared. He has only made one senior appearance for England so far but has consistently been named in the squad and it looks likely that this will be the case again when the announcement is made on Tuesday.
In terms of England keepers, there isn’t really a very large choice. John Ruddy would seem the most appropriate to be selected next as he has experience with the national team, having briefly trained with them prior to Euro 2012 and making his senior debut later that year in a friendly against Italy. Furthermore, he has also started the opening three games for Norwich this season meaning he is match fit.
