Goal of the Month – Andreas Makris (WALSALL v Oxford)

Oxford were still harbouring hopes of achieving a play-off place when they travelled to the Bescot Stadium to face mid-table Walsall on April 8.

However, their hopes were somewhat dashed thanks to a piece of brilliance from Andreas Makris three minutes into the second half.

The 21-year-old brilliantly controlled on the edge of the box before unleashing a dipping volley past the despairing Simon Eastwood in the Oxford goal.

The U’s did gain a point from the occasion, but ultimately fell short in the race for a play-off place, finishing eighth and four points behind sixth place Millwall.
