Marco Silva is the favourite to replace Sam Allardyce as manager of Crystal Palace.

Silva is in the process of tidying up the loose ends of his departure from Hull City but according to The Sun is the number one choice of the Palace board to take over at Selhurst Park.

Palace have quickly come to terms with the shock of Allardyce quitting and want to get a new boss in as quickly as possible to deal with the transfer window.

Porto were the first club to be linked with Silva but the terms on offer from Palace will be far superior to the deal that Porto can put in place.

Silva was only in charge of Hull for 22 matches but during that time he made his mark with the team that looked doomed taking the fight against the drop to the second last match where, ironically, they lost 4-0 to Palace at Selhurst Park.

No one at Palace could have contemplated the resignation of the former England boss at that time but if Steve Parish gets his way the man in the visitors dug out that afternoon will lead Palace into the new season.
