West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic is reportedly ready to plead with Dimitri Payet in a bid to keep hold of the midfielder beyond the forthcoming January transfer window, according to the Mirror.

The Premier League side, who drew 1-1 at home to Stoke City on Saturday, lie just one point above the relegation zone after their opening 11 league games, a far cry from their seventh-place finish last term in the top-flight.

In light of the Hammers’ disappointing start to the 2016/17 campaign, Payet left the door open to a potential January exit in a recent interview.

The 29-year-old, who has 30 international caps for his country, has scored two goals and provided five assists in 11 appearances in all competitions for Bilic’s men so far this season.

The report now suggests the Croatian boss will hold crunch talks with the midfielder about his future at the London Stadium outfit, whilst reminding the Frenchman how valued and adored he is by team-mates, staff and fans alike.

Payet only signed a new five-and-a-half year deal worth £125,000-a-week last January.
