Southampton 0-2 Arsenal

Same old Saints

There was a brief sense of “we’ve cracked it” when Southampton January signing Manolo Gabbiadini hit the ground running with six goals in his first four games, however, since picking up an injury at Tottenham the Italian is yet to find the net.

Coming into the game the Saints had recorded just one shot on target in two full games, Dusan Tadic’s 89th minute penalty against Hull, and whilst they were far more creative in front of goal, failed to find the back of the net once again.

Puel’s side sit 17th in the Premier League home form table, having scored just 16 times in front of their home fans so far this season, bettering only the records of already relegated duo Sunderland and Middlesbrough.
