Southampton are reportedly edging closer to offloading Uruguay international Gaston Ramirez during the January transfer window, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Premier League side, who defeated Watford 2-0 at St Mary’s Stadium on Wednesday night, are willing to allow the winger to re-join his former club Bologna this month.

The 25-year-old, who has 34 international caps for his country, has played just 28 minutes of Premier League football under Saints boss Ronald Koeman this season.

Ramirez; who cost Southampton £12m from the Italian outfit back in August 2012, is thought to be willing to give up everything on his remaining contract at Saints, which runs out in the summer, in order to force through a January move to Bologna.
